DESCRIPTION:With the turning of summer into autumn weather\, the Festival of Courage helps us prepare ourselves for the inner strength and courage that we will need to face the dark\, cold winter ahead. This grade school festival will be celebrated on Friday\, September 26th beginning with the performance of our traditional play\, St. George and the Dragon\, at 11:30am. \nPlease join us!\nWe are asking that anyone in attendance dress in solid red\, the colour of courage\, of autumn’s bountiful harvest\, autumn leaves\, the dragon’s fire\, and the fire within each one of us\, (no logos or graphics please). \nParent volunteers would be most welcome to help with the day’s activities. Please speak to your child’s class teacher if you can help with the activities\, etc. \nPlease note: this is a Grade School festival only. The Kindergarten children will be celebrating the Festival of Courage with their own Harvest Festival on the evening of Wednesday\, October 8th. The service is now in its 19th year. DESCRIPTION:Rudolf Steiner College Canada presents Three-Fold Social Order – A talk by Les Black \nOn the evening of Monday April 22\, hear Les Black speak about the Three-Fold Social Order; one of the principles on which Waldorf Education is founded. \nThe Human Body is a Wonder and full of Mysteries; it could be described as the Work of the Wisdom of Worlds. For all of that\, its plan and function illustrates harmony between its three main characteristics – Thinking\, Feeling and Willing. Rudolf Steiner revealed that Social Harmony\, for human communities\, can and must be found within the mystery of the Human Being’s Organisation. This talk will endeavour to unveil Dr. Steiner’s Three-Fold Social Order as a most practical arrangement for peaceful societies. \nLes Black retired from active classroom teaching in 2009\, after a 36 year career of elementary and middle school teaching. 24 of those years were as a Class Teacher at the Toronto Waldorf School and as a movement teacher\, at T.W.S. (Spatial Dynamics trained). Since 2010\, he has been an independent Steiner school\, on-site mentor\, including mentoring teachers at Trillium. He is currently a program Director and in-person teacher for the Full-Time Teacher Training Program at Rudolf Steiner College Canada.

Through consciousness and devotion to the small things\, we learn to transform the act of cleaning into a nurturing act of caring. When we care for our surroundings\, we not only remove dirt\, but we create space for something new\, space for education – a self-education. \nOne of the main purposes of the care we give our home\, schools and Kindergartens\, is to create a foundation which will enable our children\, not merely to grow physically\, but to develop the necessary skills\, social and other\, to build a new generation.\nIn these places\, our children can start by doing small chores\, which will help them to develop confidence\, knowing they are able to help and contribute to the community. \nLearn more about Linda Thomas and her work here. \nWe will be hosting Linda Thomas here at Trillium while she is in Canada on a short tour of Waldorf schools. DESCRIPTION:Purchase Tickets – Available for purchase until June 9 \nThis event will honour Trillium Waldorf School’s past and its exciting entry into a second 25 year stretch starting with the purchasing of our school building through the successful Capital Campaign. \nThe gala will be held at The Grandway (link)\, located just outside Elora. This brand new venue offers a large event room with outdoor patio space where we can relax and dance the night (and our COVID-19 Blues) away! \nSchedule for the evening\nUpon arrival\, guests can enjoy the cash bar\, canapes\, and live music. The Silent Auction will be open for viewing and bidding until 10pm. \nOnce seated\, guests will be welcomed by our Master of Ceremonies and we will formally begin the celebration. Guests will be served a three course dinner of house salad\, choice of entrée and dessert. \nFollowing dinner\, there will be time for speeches and a slideshow\, and the momentous “handing-over” of the keys to our school building. The evening will be capped off with music brought to us by local DJ\, DjR4m4\, playing our favourite tunes and dancing until 12:30 a.m. along with the opportunity to pick up your auction winnings. \nTickets are $50 each. Tickets can be purchased individually (up to 8 per person) or as a table of eight. After tickets are purchased\, details will be sent to the purchaser about how to submit their choice of entrée. \nWe hope you can join us ~ We can’t wait to celebrate with you! \n
