Kindergarten

New for the 2025-26 school year, we are now offering both our time tested Traditional Kindergarten as well as our newly inspired Adventure Kindergarten. It’s Waldorf Kindergarten – two ways!

Born out of our creative solution to Kindergarten during the pandemic years, Adventure Kindergarten will offer all the mainstays of our much loved Kindergarten rooms, while incorporating more exploration of and time spent in the natural world.

Class will meet at a park nearby the school and will spend the full morning exploring the wonders of nature and the magic of movement. With stops along the river, side trips through the forest and visits to the park, this class will slowly but surely make their way back to school for a nourishing lunch and an indoor afternoon rest. We’ll be sure to bring our beloved Class Gnome to give us guidance along the way, not to mention a wagon ready with our morning snack and tea for a picnic.  It will be a new adventure each day!

Set in a beautiful home-like environment, our Traditional Kindergarten will continue in the same fashion as has served hundreds of Trillium Waldorf students over the past 29 years. The children will paint, sew, play and cook their day away – with daily walks in the neighbourhood, a morning spent in the meadow or forest every week and plenty of time in our Kinderyard, of course, too.

Both options will provide our students with the essentials that make Waldorf Kindergarten so appealing for both child and parent alike. The children will be allowed to move at a pace that honours their natural rhythm and growth, will be given the time and space to experience the world with wonder and awe and will be led by teachers dedicated to providing a space for these precious young ones to feel that the world is good.

Kindergarten at Trillium also offers a flexible schedule, designed by you to meet your child’s and family’s needs. Your child can attend Kindergarten at Trillium for as little as three mornings to as much as five full days and almost anywhere in between.

Whichever style you choose, Kindergarten at Trillium will engage your child’s senses and emotions, laying the groundwork for learning in the grades.  With outdoor games that develop the connections between brain and body, handwork that develops the focus and fine motor skills needed for reading and writing and with songs and folk stories that grow vocabulary and strengthen memory, your child will not only thrive in their early years at Trillium but will be ready and excited for Grade school when the time comes, too.

In our Kindergarten programs, your child will enjoy:

~Delicious and nutritious home cooked meals

~Learning stories, poems and songs by heart

~Helping through meaningful work

~Practicing good manners and teamwork with their classmates

~Exploring nature year-round

~Plenty of time for creative free play

~Creating art projects with natural materials

~A build-your-own schedule that works for your family
