Part Time Strings Teacher

Reports To: Faculty Leadership Group
Hourly Rate: $25.24 – $31.03 (based on experience and salary grid placement)

Purpose of the Role:

We are looking for a dynamic individual who is passionate about sharing and teaching to lead engaging group music classes. The position is 2-3 classes per week; the Strings teacher is also expected to teach private lessons at the school to students on their own schedule and coordinate payments.

Responsibilities:

  • Plan and deliver engaging Strings lessons in alignment with Waldorf pedagogy
  • Collaborate with class teachers and Faculty to support student development
  • Prepare written reports and participate in parent communication as required
  • Attend pedagogical meetings and section meetings
  • Fulfill assigned supervisory duties

Key Requirements:

  • A Waldorf Teacher Education certification or some Waldorf teacher training and/or experience would be an asset, along with demonstrated ability and interest in working within Waldorf guidelines and philosophy. Mentorship will be provided.
  • Experience working with children of various age groups, and ability to create a warm connection with children. Strong desire to foster a positive environment and motivate students.
  • High level of musicianship and a solid background in string pedagogy
  • Passionate drive for excellence in music education
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills; approachable for students, parents and colleagues.
  • Willingness and proven ability to work within a community environment.
  • Effective classroom management skills
  • Current Vulnerable Sector Check and CPR–First Aid certification

Compensation:

Hourly compensation ranges from $25.24 – $31.03 and is determined based on experience and placement within the school’s salary grid. Compensation and employment conditions are administered in accordance with applicable Ontario employment standards legislation.
