In looking for signs of the evolution of consciousness, the history of art is a good place to begin, both literally and figuratively. It demonstrates how humankind evolves from a collective consciousness to self awareness, what was once a shared action becomes an individual action, indeed the journey from spiritual awareness to material awareness, from the universal to the egocentric and from the subjective to the objective.
